Explore M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering

A specialized program with advanced, industry-aligned curriculum and AI/ML applications in energy. The program is open to Foreign and Indian nationals along with sponsored candidates with an intake capacity of 20 seats. The objective of this program is to provide advanced education and training in the exploration, production, and management of hydrocarbon resources.

The course is designed for Foreign Nationals, Indian students and sponsored candidates

Eligibility Criteria

For Indian Nationals (Regular Candidates) +
  • A 4-year B.Tech. / B.E. degree in Petroleum, Petrochemical, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, or Civil Engineering
  • Must have a first-class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CPI in the qualifying exam.
  • For SC/ST students, a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CPI is required
  • Valid GATE score is required
For Sponsored Candidates +
  • A 4-year B.Tech. / B.E. degree in Petroleum, Petrochemical, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, Civil Engineering or an M.Sc. in Geology/Geophysics
  • Must have a first-class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CPI in the qualifying exam.
  • For SC/ST students, a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CPI is required
  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the sponsoring organization/industry must be submitted at the time of the interview.
For Foreign Nationals +
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree in appropriate Sciences with a good academic record.
  • Must submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP), letters of reference, and work experience (if applicable).
  • International students with a UG degree from India must have a valid GATE score or undergo an online interview.
  • The Department/School/Centre may impose additional admission requirements

Selection Procedure

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are required to appear for an interview conducted by the department.

Note: No monthly stipend will be provided.

Starting an Application

Applicants are required to apply through online application portal only. Application fee (Non-refundable) is Rs.1000/- for Unreserved/OBC/EWS/Transgender candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD/Women candidates.

STEP-I: Fill in the ONLINE application form

Register with Your Email Id and Login. Fill in the appropriate data. Please note that you have to upload your testimonials wherever it is required to validate your information along with your digital photograph and signature.

STEP-II: Make PAYMENT and SUBMIT Application

Payment of application fee has to be made through online payment gateway only

STEP-III: Take PRINT

After final submission of your online application, you will be able to generate your online application print with your specific details/data. This application print may be retained with you for future requirement.

Please note that you NEED NOT SEND the application by post. Your application will be considered on the basis of your final submission through online. You can check submission, shortlisting, selection and other application related status from Application Status menu. You should remember your login id and password for the same.

Legal Jurisdiction

Visakhapatnam is the only Legal Jurisdiction for any dispute arising on the eve of admissions into IIPE. In case of disputes, Hon'ble High Court at Amaravathi, Andhra Pradesh is the legal jurisdiction.
